Brad Willis is a writer and blogger based in Greenville, South Carolina. Willis is an award-winning broadcast journalist with a background in political and crime reporting. He has worked as a freelance writer and professional blogger since 2005. Willis’ writing and photography have been published in several magazines and on numerous web sites. He has also served as a commentator and guest on a wide variety of television, radio, and internet broadcasts.
Willis was born a middle class kid in a middle class community in the shadow of the Ozark mountains. He survived high school and traveled to University of Missouri where he majored in Broadcast Journalism.
Life in television set Willis on a successful career path he never knew he wanted. He traveled from Missouri (KOMU) to Mississippi (WLOX) to South Carolina (WYFF) covering crime, politics, and their never tenuous intersection. He covered one of the first notable school shootings and the decades late conviction of Ku Klux Klansman Samuel Bowers. He reported from the South Carolina State Capitol building as the Confederate Flag was lowered from its dome for the last time. Willis also created a series of reports that held politicians accountable for the truthfulness in their advertising, a formula that has been oft repeated in the years since. That series won the National Headliner Award Best of Show. Willis’ investigative reporting received several awards from the Associated Press, Southeast Regional Emmy Awards, South Carolina Broadcasters Association, and the National Headliner Awards.
In 2005, Willis found a change of pace in an opportunity to travel the world and write about the burgeoning tournament poker phenomenon. Since then he has traveled extensively and built a network of a dozen blogs to cover tournaments from Las Vegas to Monte Carlo to Macau.
Willis lives in his adopted hometown of Greenville, South Carolina with his wife and two sons.
